Liver transplantation is currently the only curative treatment for patients with end-stage liver disease.

Using ex vivo perfusion technology, the liver project aims to:

• establish a renewable source of organs

• prevent graft loss from rejection

• engineer ex vivo circuits to support critically ill patients with acute fulminant liver failure
